I had contact with the community of Santa Clara de Juárez and I began to weave emotional ties. I realized that their modus vivendi revolved around corn; however, in the area they only had one mill, which was several kilometers away (on average between 2km and 5km) and people had to pay for each mill. When it rains there, the ground becomes muddy and the walk to the mill becomes heavier. I started wondering what project could be done there to support community needs ...

At the same time, an international proposal of funding from Western Union emerged where they summoned people who normally work to have a positive impact in the world. The funding project would take place in 4 countries (N.Y, México, Áfria and India) and would be documented as part of a commercial. Those in charge of convening creative and entrepreneurial people in Mexico (Iván Melicoff and Renzo) through third-party recommendations, found me and asked me to make a proposal. Out of approximately 30 people there were two left: David and Juan (members of Enchúlame la Bici) and myself. Iván proposed us the option of merging our projects and we agreed. The project would consist of developing community bike-mills. Before starting to create the bike-machines, I naturally decided to consult with Rodolfo (resident of Santa Clara de Juárez) and the community. Once Rodolfo and the community approved the proposal, David and Juan began to build the bike-mills. On the other hand, Rodolfo and I created the ideal strategy for inserting the bike mills in the community, selecting the key actors who would participate in the training, as well as the ideal space for it and the possible locations.

At the end of the bike mills, David gave a community training, the documentary was filmed and Juan, David and I stayed to attend the community processes that were opened as a result of this intervention. The three of us made a commitment to continue sharing different types of community eco-techniques (if the community accepts it).

Time passed and I continued in contact with Rodolfo, who let me know that for now the community had no time or interest to learn about eco-techniques and that the bike-machines have been used but mostly for the grinding of seeds, nuts, beans, or food for their animals. Now I have pending to correspond to an invitation / casual coexistence in the Community (extended by Rodolfo and his family) and being there we will see how this project continues; for now the emotional ties continue and the project is in process.
